Anton was about to drag Maya outside when suddenly, three black military SUVs pulled up in front of the house.
The main door burst open.
BANG!
“WHO ARE YOU THROWING OUT OF HIS OWN HOUSE?!” a deep, baritone voice thundered through the living room.
Everyone turned toward the door. Doña Carmen’s eyes widened. Anton’s jaw dropped.
Standing there was a tall man with a fresh scar on his eyebrow, wearing a Special Forces tactical uniform, flanked by two armed soldiers.
Alive.
Captain Leo.
“L-Leo?!” Doña Carmen stammered, trembling as if she had seen a ghost. “S-Son? H-How… They said you were dead!”
Leo strode forward and punched Anton in the face for pushing his wife. Anton collapsed to the floor, blood streaming from his nose.
Leo immediately knelt down and pulled his wife and child into a tight embrace as they sobbed in shock and overwhelming joy.
“Leo! You’re alive! I thought you had left us!” Maya cried, touching her husband’s face as if to make sure he was real.
“You’re safe now, my love. I’m here,” Leo whispered, kissing Maya’s forehead and Timmy’s head.
Then Leo stood and faced his mother and brother. His eyes burned with fury.
“I was gone for only three years on a Top Secret Classified Mission overseas,” he said coldly. “The government declared me dead to protect my family from syndicates while I worked undercover. I thought my wife and child would be safe under your roof.”
He pointed at the shattered picture frame on the floor.
