Anton stepped forward angrily. “Your husband is dead!” he yelled. “You have no right to stay here anymore. Leo used our family’s money to buy this place. Now get out before I throw you and your kid outside myself.”
In the chaos, Doña Carmen grabbed Leo’s framed photograph from the table and threw it to the floor. The glass shattered loudly.
“You’ve been nothing but a burden to our family,” she sneered. “Now that my son is gone, I’m taking back everything you enjoyed.”
Maya fell to the ground in tears, holding Timmy close while fear and humiliation overwhelmed her.
But at that very moment, something unexpected happened.
The front door slowly opened.
A tall figure stepped inside.
It was Leo.
His voice echoed through the room with anger and disbelief. “I was gone for three years on a secret mission… and this is how you treat my wife?”
The room fell silent. Doña Carmen and Anton turned pale as they stared at the man they believed was dead.
Sometimes, the truth walks in at the moment when injustice seems strongest. And that day, Maya realized that hope can return when it is least expected.
Maya had been living in grief for three long years. Her husband, Captain Leo, an elite military officer, had been declared killed in action after a helicopter explosion during a mission in Mindanao. The news shattered her world. All she had left was her four-year-old son, Timmy, and the modest home Leo had built for their family with years of hard work and sacrifice.
