The staff froze. Guests leaned back. A few people instinctively stepped away, unsure of what was about to happen.
Victor didn’t move.
He slowly set his fork down.
“Why?” he asked, his voice calm but sharp. “How do you know anything about my food?”
The girl swallowed hard.
“Because I saw what happened to it.”
The Truth Begins to Unfold

A ripple moved through the room.
Victor’s gaze sharpened as he studied her.
She wasn’t guessing.
She wasn’t confused.
She was certain.
“Then tell me,” he said quietly. “What exactly did you see?”
The girl’s hands shook, but she didn’t look away.
“I saw a man put something in your food,” she whispered. “He thought no one was watching.”
Victor leaned back slightly, his mind already moving ahead.
This wasn’t just a random interruption.
This was something else.
Something deliberate.
“And why were you there to see it?” he asked.
Her voice dropped even lower.
“Because he tried to do the same thing to me yesterday.”
